It's a nuisance when your sliding glass door gets stuck. In the case that you have cleaned debris, small rocks or gravel from the bottom track of the sliding glass door and adjusted the door on the track with the adjustment screw, but the door still does not slide properly or is difficult to open and close, then there may be some problems with the sliding glass door rollers which indicates that it is time for us to replace the rollers. Because with the long-term use of the sliding glass door rollers, the sliding glass door rollers may be worn or rust, resulting in their inability to slide normally on the door track.

So how do I replace the sliding glass door rollers? Read on for a step-by-step guide to replacing the sliding glass door rollers.

Step 1: Remove the door from the track

First, lift the door further into the top guide track, and then pull the bottom inward until the top of the door disengages from the upper guide track and completes the removal. Since sliding glass doors can be heavy, they can be lifted with the help of crowbars. In addition, you can ask someone to help lift the door.

Step 2: Loosen the rollers screws and remove the rollers

First we need to find the screw that holds the roller in place. In the first case, the screw is located above the screw. In the second case, the screw may be located at the bottom of the door, close to the roller.
Then, turn the roller screw counterclockwise with a screwdriver until the roller is released from the bottom of the door. Store the roller screws in a safe place until you are ready to install a new roller.
Finally, when the sliding glass door roller is loose enough, it can be removed and gently pulled out of the door. Make sure that the rollers are removed from both sides of the door.

Step 3: Install new rollers

First, you need to determine what type of roller you need. Because the types of rollers required for each brand of door are different, we can determine the type of roller according to the old roller we take out. It is best to obtain two rollers at the same time to prevent additional wear on a new roller.

Then slide the new roller into the bottom of the panel. Use the old roller as a guide for installing the new roller. The screw holes should be aligned with the holes in the door to screw the rollers into the door.

Finally screw the roller into the side of the door. Remove the same screw that was removed before and re insert it into the hole on the side of the roller. Use a drill bit with a crosshead drill bit or a crosshead screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise as far as it will go.

Step 4:Reinstall the door

Install the door on the original track. Lift the door back to the upper track and then place it on the lower track. After the sliding door returns, reinstall the fixed door and push it back completely, and then fix it back to the frame with screws or fixing clips.
