Comparison between brass shower door hardware and zinc alloy shower door hardware (One)

Nowadays, there are various styles of shower door hardware in the market to satisfy the needs of different buyers in the shower door market. The main metal raw materials of shower door hardware products are brass, stainless steel and zinc alloy. Today, let's discuss the differences between brass shower door hardware and zinc alloy shower door hardware, and how to distinguish them.

The first difference between brass and zinc alloys is the element of metal synthesis.

The simplest brass is a zinc binary alloy containing zinc. Brass with different mechanical properties can be obtained by changing the proportion of zinc in brass. The density of brass is 8.5~8.8×10kg/m, a hot working temperature of 750 ~ 830 ℃, with strong wear resistance, high strength and high hardness. The higher the content of zinc in brass, the higher the strength and the lower the plasticity. The zinc content of brass used in industry is no more than 45%. However, with higher zinc content, brittleness will occur and the properties of the alloy will deteriorate. In order to improve some properties of brass, brass with other alloy elements added on the basis of monobasic brass is called special brass. The commonly used alloy elements are silicon, aluminum, tin, lead, manganese, iron and nickel. Adding aluminum to brass can improve the yield strength and corrosion resistance of brass and slightly reduce plasticity. Adding 1% tin to brass can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of brass to seawater and marine atmosphere. The addition of tin can also improve the machinability of brass. The main purpose of adding lead to brass is to improve machinability and wear resistance. Lead has little effect on the strength of brass. Manganese brass has good mechanical properties, thermal stability and corrosion resistance. Adding aluminum to manganese brass can also improve its properties and obtain castings with a smooth surface. The common brass materials on the shower door hardware market are 62 brass and 59 brass. The 62 brass content of copper is 60.5% - 63.5%, and the rest is zinc. The 59 brass content of copper is 57% - 60%, aluminum content is 2.5% - 3.5%, nickel content is 2% - 3%, and the rest is zinc content. Products containing less than 59% brass will lead to cracking during the usage of the product. There will be unscrupulous businesses in the market to avoid rising costs and use internal glue injection to manufacture inferior goods. Therefore, we can not only blindly pursue the lower price when looking for shower door hardware suppliers or sellers. The brass content of 59% is recognized as the golden ratio. The 59 brass is a good metal raw material. The brass raw material used in our Loire shower door hardware is 59 brass, if you have any interest in shower hardware, you could feel free to send us an inquiry. (email:[email protected])

Zinc alloy is an alloy composed of zinc and other elements. The commonly added alloy elements are aluminum, copper, magnesium, cadmium, lead, titanium and other low-temperature zinc alloys. The density of zinc alloy is 6.6~6.7×10kg/m. Zinc alloy has a low melting point, melts at 385 ℃ and is easy to die-cast, has good casting performance, can die-cast precision parts with complex shape and thin wall, and the casting surface is smooth; Good fluidity, easy fusion welding, brazing and plastic processing, corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Adding aluminum to zinc alloy can increase casting properties and fluidity, and reduce the corrosion reaction to iron gifts. Adding copper can increase hardness, strength and wear resistance. However, if the copper content exceeds 1.25%, the size of the alloy will change due to mechanical strength and reduce the extensibility of the alloy. If excessive lead, cadmium, or tin is added to zinc alloy, the corrosion resistance of zinc alloy will be weakened. Therefore, in the shower door hardware, the Loire will reduce the use of zinc alloy raw materials.
