Pivot hinges, or “Pivots”, are the ideal hinge. The bottom hinge supports most of the weight of the door. Since the bottom pivot hinge is mounted directly to the floor, most of the door’s weight is transferred down to your sill.
Hinging a door from a fixed glass panel isn’t a problem anymore! This system gives you the freedom to hinge your enclosure from a wall or fixed panel. These hinges which helps support the door, eliminating the need for a Decorative Header. These hinges can also work in conjunction with a header to provide the additional support needed for 3/8″ thick standard glass. Pivots are available with Square or Beveled Edges.
What types of pivot hinges can be used to troubleshoot my shower configuration? There's a different pivot hinge for each of the major door configurations. A standard pivot hinge is designed to fix to a ceiling. Others include: a glass-to-glass pivot that attaches to an overhead transom, another type of hinge fastens to a header. There's also a wall pivot hinge for a door that does not go all the way to the ceiling.
