Steps for Installing Frameless Shower Doors and Processing Glass Bricks
Handling glass bricks during the installation of frameless shower doors may be a bit challenging, but this is not something you cannot handle yourself. You can complete the installation of this glass brick alone by following the steps below.
Step 1- Prepare for Hole Turning
Follow the necessary steps to determine where your anchor needs to be drilled. Make sure all your dimensions are horizontal and accurately calculate where the hinge for going out should be placed. Make a mark on the tile and mark the area where you want to drill.
Step 2- Measure Holes
The anchor package should have a recommended hole size. It may be wise to measure a size slightly larger than that to avoid breaking glass bricks. The hole itself needs to comply with installation requirements so that the anchor will not be loosely fixed to the wall.
Step 3- Find Your Drill Bit
Based on your measurements, determine how large a drill bit you need. Most drill bits increase by 1/8 inch. Try to use a drill bit that is close to the size of the hole you need. Because many plastic anchors require a 3/16 drill bit (which is not available in glass drills), you may have to consider finding a masonry drill bit for this project.
Step 4- Drilling
Assemble the drill bit as usual and start drilling slowly. Don't rush through this part of the process, as it may cause glass breakage. Slowly, gently press, and then slowly grind the glass off. At that time, you should pass through the hole. If necessary, place a piece of wood under the drill bit as support. You can also consider using a piece of organic glass at the top of the hole to avoid scratching the tiles.
Step 5- Install Anchors
Gently guide the anchor into the designated hole using a rubber mallet or hammer. Be careful here, don't hit the glass. If necessary, a piece of scrap wood can be hammered onto a wider surface. Do this until all anchors are in place.
Step 6- Test Anchor Studs
Before you install the door, just screw the hinge into the anchor yourself. Apply the same amount of pressure to the door during installation. You need to ensure that everything is strong enough to withstand the weight of the door, as it is fragile. If it falls, your hands will become a mess.
Step 7- Complete Installation
If the anchor is tested and sturdy, all you need to do is complete your installation of the frameless shower door.
